The Internet provides a wonderful opportunity to have convenient access to our own library of references regardless of our location. This Edubeacon blog and my Linking for Learning site assemble the resources I find valuable.

I am employed by Mount Lilydale Mercy College as Head of Library and Information Services and Chair of the ICT Planning committee.  I commenced this position in January 2009 having worked at St Joseph’s College, Mildura,  Victoria, for 21 years as Head Teacher-Librarian and Network Manager – and other roles.  The Year 7-12 co-ed school is an exciting place to work these days as we combine the roles of teaching information literacy skills, digital citizenship, a love of reading and along with all this, resource the curriculum in a way relevant to today’s learning.

We face the challenges of all educators these days, in constantly reviewing practices to ensure that technology application provides stimulating, challenging and relevant learning experiences for our students.  My aim is to ensure technology and Web 2.0 applications in particular enrich the learning environment as seamlessly as possible.   Children are learning in a different landscape in their life outside school – let us do what we can to combine their worlds and create a love a learning with the stimulating tools available to us today.  Let’s all get on the bus.
